"So, I've got some errands to run in Berkeley on Saturday. Want to make a day of it?"
Hell. Yeah. I got my chance to visit Article Pract, which I now know will be worth future visits "just because". Great yarn selection, terrific staff, and best of all, a pile of toys right smack in the middle of the store. Toys which the owner actually encouraged my children to come in and play with.
On the menu: Big Girl Knits, because I'd like to make something for my mom. I'm already dazzled not just by the patterns, but by the careful and complete instructions to reaching proper fit.
A knitting knobby because I'd like to teach Molly how to do spool knitting. I was torn between the cheap plastic one, the cute one painted like a little person, and the gorgeous hand carved one--I went for cheap. I've learned my lesson about getting my heart broken by Molly when I think she's going to love something I'm really excited about. If and when she develops a knack and a like of spool knitting, I'll freaking forge one out of gold if she wants. For now, cheap plastic.
Yarn for two projects: six skeins of Cascade Pastaza in shades of berry pink, with which to make a felted laptop sleeve. And six skeins of Brown Sheep in my current favorite color combination of red and turquoise, with which I'm going to make the Buttonhole Bag (pattern available at Mason-Dixon Knitting):
And a new tape measure. Great haul.
