Okay, that's not 100% accurate: I made the polka dotted nightie while Daisy was napping and Molly was at a friend's. But the striped one was cut and sewn while the kids were in the bathtub, between dinner and storytime. Both are made from vintage bedsheets--soft, cool, and easy to care for.
I kind of hate the state of modern children's nightwear: either it's cheap and looks like it would melt if you got too close to the baseboard heater, or it's got licensed characters all over it, or both, or it's beautiful but outrageously priced. In a perfect world I'd find a couple of Lanz of Salzburg nighties every time I hit a thrift store. In the real world, the thrift stores usually have the same stuff Target has, only older and crappier. I like natural fibers. I don't need my small children to have PJ's that resemble lingerie.
So screw you, Children's Nightwear Industrial Complex, I'm making my own.
How cute are they? I love it.

What a great idea - and this couldn't come at a better time! I too am frustrated by the pajama options out there for my little girls and would love to make these. Is this a purchased pattern or a Patti pattern?

It's a vintage pattern that I modified quite a bit. Drop me an email and I'll see if I can't make a copy of it for you.

Shall I send you the flat sheet from my polka dot sheet-set that's never been used so you can match Daisy?

Those are just about the cutest Pj's I've ever seen.

These are beautiful. I agree, nightware should be confortable and pretty -- but little girls should be little girls, not Victoria's mini-Secrets.

I grew up wearing Lanz nighties. And I like the idea of bedsheets...

I'll take two.

Hey Patti
I wanted to make sure the above email link for you is still good. I sent you an email but hadn't heard back.
