I have trouble blogging after a trip. The whole trip, I think of things that need to be written about when I get home, and then when I'm back...eh. Next trip I'm going to have to experiment, maybe bring my laptop and type things out even if I can't post them immediately. Maybe I can try blogging from Dug's Treo phone. I don't know.
But it must be said, the trip was great. The girls as usual did not sleep well--good travelers, except they cannot sleep anywhere but their own beds and getting them to try is like pulling teeth. We always hope they'll do better, grow out of it, but they haven't yet.
I got a kayak this year, in the middle of the trip, and a couple times a day I paddled out and across and down the lake. It's one of the few athletic sporty type things that I've ever done in my life where I was immediately good at it, and immediately enjoyed it. A couple of times I took Molly out with me, and she nestled up in the front of the cockpit while I rowed us up and down.
We visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum in Pepin and played at the Little House Wayside north of town, where there's a replica of the original House In The Big Woods on the Ingalls' original land. Molly's so into Laura and Mary right now, and was fascinated by the fact that they were once real little girls, just like she is. It bothers her somewhat that they died, and we talked about it quite a bit--her first experience with learning about someone who used to exist in the world, and now only exists in stories.
I feel like there's much more to tell, but I can't think of what all it is. We're home now, and unpacked and settled back in, and the pictures are still waiting to be offloaded from the cameras and we're working on creating some sort of daily structure to get us through the weeks until preschool starts back up and provides us with a routine for our week.
And there, now I've at least written something, and that opens the door for writing more somethings, later. It's good to be back.
I love reading about your trips! Thanks for the update.

Finally! your home and writing again. Grammy just left my house this morning with no air in the car and 100 degree temps in the forcast. She got a cedar chest at the antique store and it is beautiful. I on the other hand just got a small table that I don't have to travel with all those hot miles. Write more soon I need my fix. Love to all. Auntie N
