My sister Colette just wrapped up a seven-month deployment on the USS Abraham Lincoln. At the end of these, they do something called a Tiger Cruise, which is where certain family and friends are allowed to join the ship for the trip from Pearl Harbor to San Diego, living and eating with the crew, taking tours of the boat. There's room, because they start flying off planes and personnel at this point.
I did it ten years ago, and this year was Dug's turn. And we decided, wouldn't it be fun if the girls and I came to Hawaii as well, to surprise Colette and spend a couple of days with her in paradise? Couldn't blog about this, because wouldn't you know it, those bastards have the internet on their boat.
So we went, and she cried, and it was awesome. There was swimming and body surfing and boogie boarding and snorkeling and I still have sand in my hair even though I've washed it three times since we got home on Thursday night.
And you can check out some pictures here.
